Mack & Jake

P is for pugalicious, because that’s the word for the day.

Mack is the older brother of this duo and he is utterly and ridiculously ADORABLE. What struck me about him was his interest in his toy basket (see figure A. below).  ;-)

Now, I work with a lot of dogs and, including my own, I know fair well that we often bring home new and fabulous toys only for them to be thrown into the forever-vortex we call the toy basket a day later .  They “disappear” into the limbo of disinterest and become distant memories of the five minutes of play time we got out of them.  Mack, however, understands the value of things in this economy.  He loves his toys.  The basket is not a storage bin.  It is a portal of imagination waiting to be brought into this dimension…no matter how long that toy has been sitting in there.  And he will wait for it…patiently…until he masters the art of removal.  How freakin’ cute is that?  Can I note here how creatively decorative his basket is?

One of Mack’s favorite toys are of the Kong variety.  He. Loves. Them.  A snorter by nature, his snorting goes to volume 11 when he has his Kong.  There’s nothing better.  I sat back and prepared to be entertained.  Oh, and he also gave me a high five for all the awesome work he did on that toy.  Squeal!!!!

And, I must play celebrity look-alike here.  When I caught him silently watching me and his brother play through the lonely glass I wanted to scoop up YODA and give him the most pug-ie-est hug I could ever give.  He also vaguely resembles the deaf doorknocker from the movie Labyrinth (my ultimate favorite movie, tied with The Dark Crystal).  Sigh.Jake, his younger quarterback of a brother (you should see him shoulder in for attention- ha ha!) is equally squishable.  He loves a good game of tug…he gets his snorts in there.  ;-)

He has a simply adorable face that makes you want to give him a million kisses and these innocent expressions that make you want to start a charity organization for no reason.  Alms for the pugs?

He loves chasing one here and there and must be part of the party at all times, he’s a fun-loving kinda dude.  I made fun of him once and he fired back by sticking his tongue out at me.  Bbbpplttt! to you too Jake!  LOL :-)

As our session, in which I got utterly carried away, came to an end several hours later Jake tried to keep his eyes open on his favorite couch.  He so badly wanted to nap but didn’t want to miss anything exciting- it was so funny!  I left hoping they had wonderful doggie dreams after my departure and I had myself a purely delightful morning.  The weather was wonderful, the breeze was blowing and the pugs were in full bloom.  Sigh…again.

Tails Magazine November Issue (little miss maya bee matyas)

When Tails Magazine contacted me again for their November issue, I was delighted.  When they told me what image they wanted to use, I morphed into pageant mom extraordinaire.  I called everyone, I emailed everyone.  “Maya’s going to be famous and she’s walking around the house still so humble and down to earth”, I’d say.  She handles fame so well.  Needless to say, I am proud.  She looks dazzling and characteristically mischievous, way too smart for her own good, and not about to give that zebra toy up anytime soon.  Congrats Maya, you will always be my little star.

By the way, should you wonder why Maya’s right ear looks like a craft project…she went and got herself an aural hematoma (or what I call “Perogie Ear”) and she had surgery.  Now she has what looks like a cornfield of multiple stitches in her ear….I took her Comfort Cone off for the press junket so she wouldn’t be embarassed.  ;-)

Lily & Abby

Lily, Abby & I have become BFFs.  We text.  In fact, Abby just told me a second ago that she bought some new shoes online.  Okay, I kid.  But I’ve seen a lot of them this year.  I felt I should post of few images from their “Shortie” session, considering that their new brother (see Monty below) got his own post for his own “Shortie”.  I simply adore Lily & Abby.

I also simply adore Abby’s Jersey mall hair.  She and I are going to the Poison concert next weekend.  ;-)

It’s always so much fun hanging with these two.  I’ll see them again when we go get our nails done together ;-)

Delilah

“Hey there Delilah, what’s it like to have such pretty hair and match the leaves that fall brought here…”  Okay, I’m not a lyricist but Delilah (full name:  Hey There Delilah) is most definitely a giant silky smooth barrel of fun, worthy enough to write a song about. She has a spunky personality, a little mischief hiding amongst that tousled fur and she could win an energy contest against the energizer bunny any day, paws down.  I’m really not kidding. Three hours into our session she was still pretending she was the lead horse in the Kentucky derby.  Spurts of crazy dog runs around the yard, her hoofs (yes, they sounded like hoofs) pounding on the wet ground, kicking leaves and debris into a swirl behind her.  I can only hope she slept after I left.  Champions needs their rest.

Speaking of those leaves, aren’t they absolutely gorgeous?  Here in sweltering Central Florida, where we experience record highs (of 93 degrees!!)  in October you don’t often see that sort of thing so I was kind of in heaven up there in Ohio.

Although we were lucky in that our session didn’t get rained upon, it did get pretty drenched the day before.  Therefore, it only took a few minutes for li’l Delilah to soak up her paws and legs into a dog boot formation.  I tried drying and brushing but my efforts were futile, I tell ya.  The minute I got done, she was down the track again.  But she was having SO MUCH FUN!  She did laps, played with sticks, broke the sticks into pieces, fetched her toys.  All the while, stomping around like the little tomboy that she is.  Oh, Delilah, what are we going to do with you?  I suppose just cuddle you and pet you and love you and play with you some more  :-)

Thank you Delilah and Krista, of Rainmaker Ranch, for letting me get my workout in your beautiful fall weather.
