Gladys

Do you just want to die or what?  How awesome is Gladys?!  A Redbone Coonhound with a very independent personality, she makes me laugh every time she does anything.  I met Gladys several years ago and I fell in love, partially due to the fact that she reminds me EXACTLY of “Bruno” from The Triplets of Belleville, which is on my top ten favorite movies list.  If you haven’t seen that, by the way, stop what you’re doing and rent it immediately.

Gladys is the proprietor of Casey’s on Central, as well as Cleo’s Lounge.  Her Dad, Casey, of course is employed by her to make sure everything’s running smoothly and super fun at all times.  He’s also the one who makes sure Dog Fest is the killer party it is every year or else Gladys will bring down the dog hammer.  ;-)

Gladys does what she wants, when she wants and there’s no other way about it.  She’s young enough to wear her doggie ear muffs when she’s having too much fun and old enough not to care.  It’s hilarious.  Because she absolutely LOVES to swim in the lake, we figured one more dip couldn’t hurt near the end of the session.  Well…Gladys took herself on a personal pleasure cruise down the canal.  Like a sturdy steamboat, chugging along,  she just kept a-goin’…and a-goin’.  We thought she’d make it to the next county.  When she felt like coming back she did.  But she made sure that we were fully aware that it wasn’t because we called her back.  Ha ha!!!  She also loves to play with her BFF, Sadie, whom I had the pleasure of photographing last year.  They are a pretty awesome little team.I just absolutely adore her and I’m so happy to have had the chance to hang out with her for a few hours.  Our session came complete with sun, torrential rain and so much fun.  Gladys didn’t mind a bit, she was perfect.  :-)

Don’t make me start making up holidays.  Just getchyou some! ;-)

This is always such a fun project to work on and I’m so thrilled to be able to offer my support of shelter pets in this way.

A million thank yous and deafening applause to the following folks who helped make this possible:

  • The generous, and very competitive, bidders who made the calendar table a flurry of activity during the auction.
  • The wonderful staff at the SPCA who painstakingly oversees and pays close attention to all the details, including the tough job of selecting the final photos.
  • The awesome talent of designers and staff at Progressive Communications, who handled the design, layout, and printing of this amazing product.  My work looks so awesome because of you!  :-)

Brandy

Brandy is an ADORABLE little Beagle.  Just look at those lovely eyes- oh my!!  She’s super friendly, warms your heart and is such a great little companion.  She is one of those even-keel friends who enjoys a good time and is pretty much up for anything.  Totally easy going.  :-)

In case you aren’t aware, one of my favorite sounds is the sound of a dog crunching on an apple (or a cheese puff, but I did not bring cheese puffs, just so we’re clear).  I did however, bring a delicious organic gala  (my favorite apple) because it was leaked that Brandy loves, absolutely loves, apples.  It was quickly confirmed.  She became my bestest friend and I got to listen to that wonderful “chough, chough” to my hearts delight.  Hee hee!

She’s a little adventurous, not shy at all and totally rules the house.  It’s pretty awesome.  My favorite part was near the end of our session when she decided she wanted this one particular toy that I brought…even though she didn’t play with it the rest of the entire time.  She nabbed it and ran away, ultimately taking a stand at the top of the stairs with a “just you try and come up here” look on her face.  It’s funny because it’s not so much that she wanted us to chase and play with her and the toy.  She totally just wanted to keep it and that’s the way it was going to be.  It was SO funny!  I, of course, happily conceded to her wishes.  :-)

Thank you, Miss Brandy for a wonderful morning!  Thank you, mother nature, for raining just AFTER our session had ended.  And, thank you, Tracy & Pete for the wonderful new friend I made.
