I’m sorry, but will you just look at this dog?! Is he not the most handsome gentleman in all the land? I was smitten when I first saw him. Smitten, I tell you! And his personality is just as unique and awesome as his looks.

He has impeccable manners, is SUPER smart and hilarious to hang out with. Hilarious because he totally tries NOT to be hilarious. His mom told me before our session, “He’s just so serious”. She’s so right. And that makes him funny . Despite his mastiff-ish appearance he does not lumber along with a dumb-dumb, doh-dee-doh, air about him.
He showed me his tricks not because he wanted to win me over but more as if I was a baby that his mom told him he had to entertain for three hours. I swear I caught him rolling his eyes at me when he thought my head was turned- ha ha!!
That’s my kinda dude and I just simply fell in love with him.
Sitting, speaking, rolling over and all the other parlor tricks he was kind enough to demonstrate paled in comparison to simply being a courteous roommate. You see, his Mom lets him in the front yard to mill around at his leisure (even cats across the street don’t temp him- it’s amazing) and instead of her getting up off of the couch to close the door when he comes in…HE. DOES. IT. HIMSELF. I know!! I will be talking about that for years.
So, in conclusion, Bodey is the coolest thing on planet earth. A mix of what I guess is Mastiff, Ridgeback, Pit, Rottie, and one tiny purple Chow freckle in on his tongue…and you know, I’ll throw some boxer in there somewhere for good measure. The most laid back and gentle giant that I ever played a game of tug with (his strength is astounding). Thank you Bodey for such an awesome afternoon!
Opie is the sweetest little muffin. A kind and gentle soul, full of love and peace. Truly, he is. He looked at me with those quiet little eyes when I walked into his house, padding up ever so quietly and I needed a tissue to dab at my heart. He’s a wonderful little dude.
Opie is also a reason this job can be difficult for me. He, like many beloved animals has developed a form of terminal cancer. (The lump in my throat is appearing, just typing this.) It is never easy, but I can say one thing for sure…he is lucky enough to have found a home with more love than you can imagine and to have spent a few hours with him, I feel quite honored. He is simply adorable.
Cassie is the adoring adopted sister of Opie. They really are two peas in a curly-furred pod. The just love each other’s company and compliment each other so nicely. You see, whereas Opie is quiet and pondering …Cassie is the intensely driven, attention-getting, if-you-have-it-I-want-it ying to his yang. Her nickname is “Bottle Rocket”.
I had a really great time with these two. They are the perfect couple and lovely companions!

He LOVES to swim. I got in the lake with him (yes, it was cold- hee hee) and he proceeded to blow bubbles. I was cracking up. He sticks his head under water, with eyes open and hunts for things to play with while blowing bubbles. The sound and the sight was just too much, I could barely hold the camera steady I was laughing so hard. He holds his breath for REALLY long too, it’s nerve-wracking, ha ha! The only way I knew he was okay was that his tail kept wagging while his head was completely submerged.
