HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Halloween is my favorite holiday.  I love the weather (especially this week!), the spooks, the stories and the scary movies.  And of course, the costumes.  Last Sunday was the highly anticipated 9th Annual Doggie Costume Contest in Winter Park, produced by BullFish and a benefit for the Sebastian Haul Foundation and Friends of Fleet Peeples Park.  It’s an absolute riot!  This year I brought the camera just for fun but some of these costumes were too good not to share.  To view the complete batch of photos or order prints visit www.pictage.com/430607 and select “DOG HALLOWEEN”.

The cutie on the left is very proud to be a pirate.  The cutie on the right, I’m guessing, not so much- hee hee hee!! :-)

B is for Bumble Bee Boxer.  This was funny because she did not mind her new set of antennae whatsoever and to see them whoozy around every time she turned her was more than I could stand- I could not stop laughing!

A second opinion may be in order before you let this surgeon operate. ;-)

This is Melvin (if I remember correctly) and how cool is his fisherman costume?!

Please note the adorable pack of googley-eyed worms.

No fisherman would be complete without their best catch.  Look at the detail in this.  These folks sure brought their game!

“OHMIGOD, CANDY!  I like candy!”

Taco on the left.  Bell on the right.

Michael Phelps in the house, ladies and gentlemen!

Sometimes it’s  not just the costume but how you wear it which makes this the most barkin’ Elvis getup I’ve seen.

There are no words for how adorable this is.

D is for Dorothy the Doberman.  hee hee!

And don’t forget the sidekicks on your journey.  I declare this is a pretty sweet pack costume.

Is this not the best thing ever?!  “Spaghetti and Meatpaws”.  Genius.  Costume created by local photographer Jason Leonard.

This is Shamus and he’s a regular at these events.  Isn’t his costume so fitting?  Adorable!

In February 2009 all cable is switching to digital so if you still have a TV with an antennae or rabbit ears, you will need a digital converter box.  Carl here, demonstrates.

And the utters too!

Jazzercise is back and it’s BIG.

Seriously.  Could you find a better angel?  I don’t think so.

Sarah Palin also made an appearance.  Her pantsuit said “Just Another Hockey Mom Dog”.

Hee hee hee, haa haawww! :-)

Linus

Yes, Linus.  How adorable is that?!

Linus is a snuggly little Shih Tzu with the cutest little squish face- hee hee!  By the way, Maybelline take notice, that’s what I call lash extension! ;-)

He is soft, oh-so-cuddly and quite particular.   He’s not fond of wet grass (we battled a few drizzles that day) but he marches around the pool deck like he owns the place…which he does.

I was quickly trained to provide treats in 5 second increments and do whatever he said.  Oh, and not the apple cobbler mini treats, but the peanut butter soft bites please and thank you.

Linus’ typical Saturday consists of bopping along at the local farmer’s market.  So, considering I woke him up early and interrupted his outing I was happy to do whatever he wanted.  He is simply adorable and I love the little faces he makes!

He also allowed his Mom to adorn him in a few of his holiday themed bandanas.  However, he drew the line at a collar of jingle bells, pretending his head had all of a sudden gained 7500 pounds. ;-)   Apparently he does the same thing when outfitted in his rain coat- aaha ha ha!!!  :-)   Thank you, dear Linus, for being such a love bun.

Time to stock up on doggie soap!

Jillian Says!, maker of my favorite “Pooch Polish” will have a booth at the Fall Fiesta so…Jillian says… “Please grab your dog, take a walk down there and go stock up.”  The products are all hand-made, good for you (my dog Mac prefers to eat the soap but it’s okay because the ingredients are all safe and natural), smell great and make you feel fantastic.  And they’re pretty, so there.  Check out the candles, soaps and new line of teas too!

Sophie

What an absolutely wonderful, peaceful, playful morning I had with Sophie, an American Fox Hound.  We walked back and forth throughout the house, got to watch the sun come up (literally) and the neighborhood kids go to school.  We also did a bit of sniffing and digging, of course.  If Sophie was stranded on a desert island and had to pick two activities to bring with her it would be sniffing and digging.  She’s a hound, no mistakin’!  She’s as sweet as sugar pie and very young at the age of 14, bouncing around to bark-howl at the garbage truck on it’s way by.  The nerve of people picking up garbage!  It’s absurd!  ;-)

She also loves her peanut butter-packed kong.

You cannot sue me if your heart is melting.  I am not liable for medical conditions stemming from her outrageous adorable-ness.

And she just has the most adorable bits and parts, don’t you agree?

Isn’t her nose just awesome?  I’m serious, she’s a hound it’s different!  Look at all those crevices within crevices that accept and process information, it’s like a whole other brain!  It looks like some ancient alien secret message motherboard that’s just begging to be translated.  I can’t imagine what it’s like to have senses like that… wonderfully overwhelming, I suppose.  ;-)

Maya’s new leash on life

Maya has had an AWFUL allergy season starting last spring and continuing until present day.  At one point she managed to make her chest into a giant scab which was soooo sad…and icky!  It took constant supervision, finger snapping and “tssstt”-ing to get her to leave it long enough to heal but it eventually did.  There were also lots of medicated baths and Buddy Boo Boo involved.  In the meantime, her regular old harness wasn’t helping with the skin aggravation (scratchy thread and all) so Dad went hunting for a new outfit.  Imagine my surprise when he ordered something pretty awesome…and all by himself too…aint’ that peachy?

This leash and harness by Planet Dog is just perfect.  Made of eco-friendly hemp that’s woven into wonderful softness and lined with fleece it offers incredible comfort for the fragile and dainty skin of a…pit bull ;-)   The leash handle is also fleece-lined for the fragile hand of Mom when dainty pit bull pulls like ox during walk.  Just thought you might like to know should you happen to be in need of a sweet new leash/harness ensemble.

2009 SPCA Calendar ON SALE NOW!!!

This was such a fun project, as always!  So here’s how it works every year. At the FurBall Auction folks clamor over to the calendar table to bid on an opportunity for their pet to grace the pages of particular months.  It’s hot potatoes, I’m tellin’ you!  The winning bidder gets a calendar session with Photohound, a pet that’s shuttled into celebrity and bragging rights for an entire year.   Then, the best part….the calendar is sold to everyone (as in if you don’t buy one, you’re no one…I kid, I kid :-) ) with ALL PROCEEDS going directly back to the SPCA of Central Florida.  They make wonderful stocking stuffers, office gifts and come complete with their own warm fuzzy feeling for knowing your money’s going to a great cause.

$12 each.

Available at both SPCA of Central Florida locations:  Orlando (Conroy Rd.) and Sanford (County Home Rd.)

A shout out to the awesome peeps at Tcreative who take care of the design and printing- woo hoo!

I’d show more of the inside but then where would the surprise be when you get yours?  ;-)

Ooh! Pick me, pick me!!

These dogs are currently up for a adoption…and currently need a home right now…and currently are absolutely adorable…and currently are wondering why they are still at the shelter.  If you are looking to add a little love to your fam, PLEASE consider one of these bundles of joy.  They are patiently waiting at the SPCA of Central Florida, Orlando/Conroy Rd. location.  For directions and adoption information visit their website, www.orlandopets.org.  I had the pleasure of meeting all of them yesterday (and many more) which I plan on doing more often.  It really was a lot of fun.  But sad and hard not to leave with the entire inventory.  So sit down and get comfy (there’s a lot to look at) and make me less sad by adopting one why dontchya?
