0124When I get a call to photograph a trio of Jack Russell Terriers, I know it’s going to be an eventful day.  And it was.  In the most DELIGHTFUL way!  The sun going down was what literally pulled me away from this wonderful family.  I could have nuzzled in those snouts for a whole week, what with all the love and kindness provided by these dogs.  I’ll begin with Miss Liberty Bell, as it was this little lady that brought me over this day.

Liberty1

Liberty Bell (born on the fourth of July, no joke) is an 8-year old dynamo.  She’s been battling canine lymphoma for almost two years and visiting AVS in Maitland for care.  However, during our session, you’d never guess she gave a second thought about it.  She was her perky inquisitive self and the dynamic leader of her pack (there’s a definite and respected hierarchy, it’s pretty awesome to witness.)  She embraces her “Peacemaker” nickname like a professional girl scout and when you’re in her presence, it’s nothing short of bliss.  She’s spoiled rotten (deservingly so) and the kindest princess you’ll ever bow down to.

0025She loves her wardrobe…flowers, pearls, bikinis (I know!), she’s a fashion diva and there’s no doubt about it.  It’s rare but sometimes you work with dogs who simply adore accessorizing and Liberty was most definitely one of them.  I’m not one to make a habit of clothing dogs but I can honestly say, as a true witness, she. loves. it.  She is a shining star and as far as personality goes, what most of us only wish to be.  Gracious, yet respected.  A natural mediator and leader.  A heart the knows no limit and a soul without boundaries.

Liberty2

Skippy, the middle child (in stance, not age) is an old soul.  No doubt about it. You see it in his eyes.  Looking into them  immediately provides peace, strength and widsom.  His distinguishing grey hairs and unamused attitude makes you giggle in a way that only does when you’re told to be serious.  You can’t help but crack a smile.

0071He loves lounging in his lair underneath the coffee table.  He misses no opportunity to boss Josie around (and begrudgingly retreats when Liberty sticks up for her).  And he likes taking control of the toys unless there’s a lizard within a two-mile radius.  Once outdoors he’s on the hunt and he doesn’t kid around.

Skippy1

Unleash the terrier within and you’ll witness the unstoppable determination he possesses.  He has his own personal tunnel in the yard which provides an acceptable hunting ground.  He digs.  He waits.  He digs some more.  His little Skippy butt reaches new heights and he has a blast, always getting three last inspections before he’s forced to return to the comforts of the carpet inside.

SKippy2

Josie is the baby of the family, born with one ear always-a-listenin’.  She loves her snacks and all the attention she can get.  But she’s content to sit and wait her turn to be acknowledged when it comes to having her picture taken.

0103She’s spunky and sprite, kind and patient.  Hang around her and you’ll notice how observant she is too.  Her mind just likes to soak things up and learn, closely picking up the ways of the world from her siblings.

Josie1

0138 A child-like innocence with a wild-hair streak makes her so fun to be around.  She’s a social butterfly and not one to hang back but always respects those around her, especially Liberty and Skippy.  I adore her.  Thank you Geiger family for a wonderful afternoon!

Ollie, Gillie & Tucker

- Orlando, FL pet photography -

Oh, these three. A house of characters if I ever encountered one.  Amazing, hilarious, kind and welcoming in each their own way.  I had so much FUN with them!  And, I knew I was going to love them…before our session their Mom- excuse me- they told me about themselves and I feel it’s worth repeating verbatim because they are an incredibly entertaining bunch.  Their Mom is an excellent writer so I’m including transcriptions of their thoughts throughout ;-)

OLIVER

Ollie sleeps in the sink, plays in the bathtub, LOVES his tummy rubbed, drinks from the faucet, completely adores your company and is an all-around HAM for the camera.  I almost stuffed him in my bag and took him home.  He’s simply dreamy!  He even let me put a towel on his head!!!!  A cat!!!  Head!! Towel!! What?!  I know!!

Ollie1

Ollie3

“I really am the nicest cat in the whole world.  My motor is always running and I LOVE my people.  I tolerate my brothers when they are calm…sometimes we even cuddle together on the couch.  The bathtub is really my special place.  Sometimes my Mom and Dad pretend that they want to work on the computer, but really they want me to lie upside down on the keyboard and make sure they can’t do any typing at all.”

Ollie2

GILLIE

Gillie is a social butterfly, the man of the hour and chock-full of energy.  He has an awesome duality to his character too: a dominant, free-spirit that also aims to please and will perform parlor tricks at the drop of a hat.  His mime-shaded face matches the expressiveness of his personality and the many acrobatic talents he possesses.  A charmer!

Gillie

“I’m very cerebral and I think about things a lot.  And I have done a ton of stuff in the past five years.  My best friend for one year was a duck named Dewy – I was very gentle with him.  Mom used to take me to work everyday (even on the air planes) so I am very well traveled.  I learned how to get my exercise on the hotel treadmills.  I like to ride the motorcycle with Mom and Dad and we go camping in the motor home.  I’ve always adored Ollie – sometimes he lets me lick his ears!”

Gillie1

“I’m a treat snob.  I’m not interested in ‘dry’ dog snacks…My preference is people food because I am a big deal.”

“I like stuffed animals, especially if they have long hair so that I can hold them down and scalp them!”

“I hate getting rained on and the constant adoration from my dumb dumb little brother can get a bit exhausting!  Tucker and I do agree on how much we hate the dogs on TV (even cartoon dogs!)”

Gillie2

TUCKER

Tucker has such an endearing vulnerability about him.  It’s really adorable.  He’s one step behind his brother and just a tad shy but when he opens up you see his shining heart of gold.  He’s comical, a caricature of himself and his little wayward hairs bounce along like fish lures.  You just want to stick him in a Baby Bjorn and cart him around all day- hee hee!  :-)

Tucker2

“I’m not a smart boy…Mom says I’m all heart and no brains.  It’s okay though, because I am SO HAPPY to be alive!!  I am a Jack Russell but I’m uncoordinated and I can’t jump.  I like walks, but only if they are short.  I don’t like to swim and I get intimidated in large parks.  I’m very people orientated and like to flirt with pretty girls.”  ;-)

Tucker3

“My favorite toy is whatever Gillie is playing with at any given time.  Gillie is my big brother and he knows everything.  I do like stuffed animals and nylabones…especially if they are Gillie’s.  I get distraught if Gillie ignores me.  Sometimes Gillie does things that I don’t understand and I feel left out.  I hate all dogs on T.V. and I hate Kate Gosselin too.”

Tucker1

THANK YOU Jarrod & Christa for a truly wonderful session with such a wildly entertaining family of four-leggers!  :-)

Jack

Jack, as you’ve probably noticed, is a Jack Russell Terrier mix.  I’m thinking he has a speck of Basenji in him.  However, that’s all superficial because inside he’s all terrier, make no mistake.  I had so much fun with this guy!  We played…a lot.

We borrowed a neighbor’s yard in which there was waiting, a soccer ball.  Jack had at that moment found his new obsession.  I was all set to become Jack’s new BFF but noooooo…Mr. Soccer Ball had to butt in.  Seriously though, he LOVED that thing!  He naturally became entranced and proceeded to shake, poke, pounce and almost circus balance on it. :-)

Actually any ball, really, will do.  He’s an awesome catch and fetch partner, he gets so excited and he brings it right back like lightning!  He has an endless supply of energy and curiosity which I definitely enjoyed watching.

He’s a very good boy, loves his Mom & Dad and has the cutest little freckles on his legs, it makes me want to squeal- hee hee! :-)   Thank you, Sir Jack, for including me in your games and adventures.  It was a most pleasant afternoon. :-)
